BACK TO MY COBRA - Part 1
Part One – The years of love and caring
In 1975, when I was 15 years old, I bought a yellow (more like light-mustard) coloured, EKO Cobra IV electric guitar (1_Me_N_MyCobra.png). My! What a piece it was! It had not one, not two, but four pickups and two switches to choose among 9 different sounds!
Come September of the same year, my first group, “The Overskies” were born! The group (2_TheOverskies.png) became the “Stars” of our little city, paved the path for several others to follow and lived until in 1978, when we all dispersed to different parts of this world for further studies. Even today, the memories and the legacy of the group lingers on heavy on the City.
This all was happening in the city of Agios Nicolaos, on the north-east part of the island of Crete, Greece, thousands of miles away from the rock centres (3_Me_N_MyBro.png).
I loved and lived with my Cobra IV, put my soul through it, wrote songs on it, sweated on it during numerous gigs, modified it (I put an MXR Overdrive inside the body!) and finally I took it with me as my sole hand luggage (4_Original_Cobra_IV_modded.png), when I flew to England for my B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering at the University of Sussex.
