The problematic operation of the encoders after some use of the sampler is known to those who have the Yamaha A3000 ("jumping" parameters, going back instead of forward etc.). The extra board was made to improve the accuracy of the encoders' operation. On the internet you can find a lot of information on this subject.
On the original board with the encoders are soldered the corresponding cables that are connected to the extra enhancement board.
