It was reported back in June that
Gibson is in trouble, as both customer and employee dissatisfaction was growing at a rapid rate. However, it was also revealed that guitars take up only 25% of the company's earnings, while the remaining 75% came from consumer electronic.
Gibson is reportedly set to reduce the prices of its six-strings in 2016, while abandoning the design changes made during the current year.
2016 models will be around 20-25 percent cheaper next year, bringing Les Paul Standard to a reported new price of $2,799, and the SG Standard to $1,199.
One of the 2015 technological adjustments that will reportedly be abandoned next year is the controversial G-Force automatic tuning system, which was one of the key reasons behind a nearly 30% price jump this year.
For example, Les Paul Standard came with a $2,999 price tag in 2014, while the 2015 model with new gizmos was listed for $3,879.
Additionally, other changes that are set to be ditched include the Zero nut, Les Paul commemorative headstock inlay, and the installation of automatic tuning machines on every guitar.
The available models will be similar to that of 2012 including the reintroduction Faded finish guitars, the Explorer and Flying V Pro.
