Εδώ και η, πιο εύκολη στην αφομοίωση, πιανιστική εκδοχή του θεατρικού έργου Relâche (1924) που οδήγησε στο Entr'acte.
Πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες οι σημειώσεις του Βρετανού μουσικολόγου Robert Orledge στο "2016 Complete Satie Piano Works for Piano":
"Satie planned the music for this deliberately provocative, "instantaneous" ballet with Francis Picabia very carefully, trying to balance the music of the two mirrored acts as closely as possible, and to match the entries and returns of the various dancers.
Despite his use of popular (and sometime salacious) songs like "Le Marchand de navets" and "Cadet Rousselle", he planned each number to stand up to future scrutiny, as he had with "Mercure".
Much of the music is again of a stylized music-hall nature, but there are some charming numbers, like the "Dance of the Revolving Door" (no 7), where the music does go round and round, and another quirkily chromatic waltz in no 10, which is itself linked to no 7 and recurs in no 19. The only numbers that are completely self-standing are no 15 and the curious "Wheelbarrow Dance" (no 18), which is Satie's only piece in 5/4 time (2+3).
The Act 1 Finale shows that Satie knew Stravinsky's "Petrushka" as well as Debussy did, and there is no evidence of musical decline here, as many critics claimed after his death the following year."
