Myspace και δισκογραφική

Σήμερα έλαβα το παρακάτω μήνυμα από τη συγκεκριμένη εταιρεία μέσω του Myspace και μπορώ να πω ότι επειδή είμαι ψωνάρα στην αρχή χάρηκα αλλά κάτι δεν μου πάει καλά. Την έχετε ξανακούσει την εταιρεία ή έχετε δεχθεί αντίστοιχα μηνύματα από άλλες?

 

Μέσω του myspace είχα "ανεβάσει" κάποια τραγούδια στο www.myspace.com/publiusenigmaband -το σαιτ το βάζω γιατί όλος περιέργως μου ζήτησαν το πρώτο τραγούδι που ακούγεται όταν ανοίγεις τη σελίδα. Και αυτό είναι το μήνυμα που μου έστειλαν.

I heard your song, “Someone Said” and I am very impressed with it. I am currently working on the Summer edition of a compilation CD titled “Rock 4 Life”. It will feature punk, indie, alternative, and all other variations of the rock genre from all over the world. I believe that your song would be a perfect fit on this project and I would be honored to have you take part.

 

My name is Joe Bird and I am a project manager with Quickstar Production, as well as a musician for the past 16 years. Quickstar Productions is a company that specializes in designing music-marketing campaigns and supplying digital distribution services for record labels and independent artists. In 2004, Quickstar Productions released its first Comp CD as a way to promote unsigned artists. This CD was extraordinarily successful in accomplishing its mission! Over the years the company has built off that success and perfected a marketing plan to maximize exposure for the artist. Quickstar Productions is based out of Baltimore, MD, USA and is an active member of the Maryland Better Business Bureau.

 

“Rock 4 Life” will be marketed and made available in the following ways:

 

1.PHYSICAL SALES: You will receive 50 copies of the CD to sell at whatever price you choose. These will be professionally produced, retail ready CD’s. We recommend selling them for $8. That way you can make $400. You keep 100% of your sales. This is a great way to get more merchandise to sell at your shows and also a way to target other fans in your genre. The idea is that when each artist sells their 50 copies, the other artists on the CD will have their music exposed to other fans of your genre of music. Your song will be exposed to many new listeners in this manner.

 

2.DIGITAL SALES: The compilation will be made available for sale in all digital stores including iTunes, Rhapsody, Wal-Mart, Napster, and Amazon. Your song will also be available as a ringtone that your fans may purchase. You will receive 50% of profits generated.

 

3.EXPOSURE: The CD will be sent to record labels, marketing, and management firms. Along with the CD, a booklet featuring your picture and bio will be made available so they can learn a little bit more about you. In addition, free promo copies will be handed out at concerts in the Baltimore/Washington area. Quickstar Productions will also promote the album by using MySpace and banner ads.

 

4.RADIO: The CD will be sent to college and internet radio stations and be featured on various podcasts throughout the world.

 

5.NETWORKING: Developing a network with other musicians is key to ones success. This comp CD is a chance to do so. You will be provided with all the other artists information before the CD is released so that you can start show swapping with one another, networking and helping each other out

 

To have your song included on our upcoming compilation CD please visit our website, Quickstarproductions com, to download the submission form. We do not charge a fee to be on “Rock 4 Life”, but we do ask that you purchase 50 CD’s to distribute at cost ($175). This will be the only cost to you. One of the most important parts of this project is getting the CD into the hands of fans. The more CD’s that you are able to distribute the more exposure everyone gets.

ποτε μη πληρωσεις για να συμμετασχεις σε ενα compilation. ΠΟΤΕ (εκτος και αν εχεις τη καψουρα 'ντε και καλα'). Επισης..

 

1) σχεδον με τα ιδια λεφτα μπορεις να κυκλοφορησεις το δικο σου αλμπουμ. Φυσικα δε θα εχεις το προμοτιον που θα σου προσφερει το λαμπελ.

 

2) μπορεις να κυλοφορισεις το δικο σου αλμπουμ με πολυ λιγοτερα λεφτα αν δε θελεις physical distribution (CD). Εχε υποψιν σου οτι αυτο που κοστιζει δεν ειναι το να παραγεις τα CDs, αλλα το να τα κανεις διανομη, προμοσιον, κτλ κτλ. Εκει ειναι τα εξοδα.

 

χωρις να ξερω σιγουρα, η λογικη εχει ως εξης...

πληρωνουν περιπου $600 για να κυκλοφορισουν 600 CDs, και αλλα $100-150 (το ΠΑΡΑ πολυ) για digital distribution. Συνολο $700 (περιπου). Αν το compilation εχει 10 καλλιτεχνες, θα παρουν πισω $1750 για 500 CDs.

 

απο τα 600 CDs τα υπολοιπα 100  θα ειναι για προμοσιον. Αυτος ειναι κ ο λογος που κανουν compilation (με καθε promotional Cd καλυπτουν ολους τους καλλιτεχνες). Οποτε εχουν κερδος περιπου $1000 χςρις το 50% (συνηθως) που θα εχουν απο τα mp3s.

 

Φυσικα και εσυ θα κανεις αποσβεση αν πουλησεις 30 CDs για $6. (τα υπολοιπα 20 θα ειναι για' σενα και φιλουσ, πιστεψε με, εκτος και αν γινεις 'τσιπης' και πουλισεις και τα 50).

 

Οποτε για ολοκληρωσω, αν ενδιαφερονται τοσο πολυ για τη μουσικη σου μπορεις να τουσ ζητησεις να σου δωσουν 50 CDs 'τσαμπα΄ και μετα να κανουν recoup απ'τις online

πωλησεις σου. Δηλαδη να παρουν το 100% απ' τα πρωτα 500 mp3s που θα πουλισεις.

 

P.S. οι τιμες ειναι κατα προσεγγιση αλλα πολυ κοντα στις πραγματικες.

Ολα τα παραπανω δεν ειναι τπτ περισοοτερο απ' τη ταπεινη μου γνωμη.

Έχω λάβει και εγώ αυτό το email... Η πλάκα είναι οτι αναφέρονται σε ενα cover που είχαμε κάνει στο Jacqueline απο Franz Ferdinand... Όταν διάβασα το " I like your song jacqueline" έλιωσα... ;D
