Description
Istanbul 20" Turk pre split Ride White stamp
Very rare ride.
In excellent condition.
Very well balanced and very special piano.
The Istanbul Agop 20" Pre Split Turk Ride is a handmade B20 alloy (80% copper / 20% tin) plate, forged and shaped using traditional Turkish methods prior to the Istanbul Agop/Mehmet split. The White Logo version belongs to early production batches, with particularly stable metallurgy and characteristic sounding behaviour.
Technical Characteristics
- Diameter: 20"
- Alloy: B20 bronze (hand-forged)
- Finish:
- Unlathed top & bottom
- Raw surface for increased harmonic control
- Bell:
- Small-medium size.
- Dry response, low overtone content
- Bow Profile: Medium to low for more earthy behaviour
- Edge: Thin, with fast mechanical response
- Weight Distribution: evenly distributed, with a slightly thicker area around the bell for greater stick clarity
Sound Behavior
- Tonal Character: dark, earthy, organic, with limited overtone spread
- Stick Definition: clear and distinct, ideal for articulate playing
- Sustain: Short to very short
- Wash: Minimal, almost non-existent in low-medium dynamics
- Dynamic Range: ideal for low-medium playback; at high dynamics it remains controllable
- Bell Tone: Dry, low pitched, with a clear line.
- Ideal for jazz, fusion, experimental, world, acoustic formats
- Great for studio due to low harmonics and absolute control
- Preferred by drummers seeking dry articulation, minimal wash and advanced stick response
